Description

A fancy detail that makes your motorcycle different—combining high quality aluminum and latest technology carbon fiber composite.

Editor's Pick: Enhanced Vibration Stability

Editor's Pick Badge

All mirrors in our store are designed with stability and clear rear visibility as key priorities. This model stands out for its stable construction and mounting, proven by real-world evaluations on high-vibration motorcycles and feedback from riders across various platforms. Specifically engineered to maintain a steady image even on high-vibration machines.

Since motorcycle vibration can result from many factors—including engine characteristics, handlebar resonance, mounting conditions, and motorcycle setup—this selection does not guarantee zero vibration. It reflects our best effort to share products that have consistently demonstrated stronger real-world stability in our experience and rider feedback.

Instruction

How to install the mirrors?

Installing standard motorcycle mirrors is usually straightforward, but the correct mounting method depends on your motorcycle's mirror thread, thread direction, and mounting adapter.

Before installation, make sure the mirror or adapter matches your motorcycle. Using the wrong thread size or forcing a reverse-threaded mount can damage the mirror perch.

If you are not sure whether your mirrors fit your motorcycle, check our Motorcycle Mirror Fitment Guide first.

Quick Answer: How to Install Motorcycle Mirrors

For most standard stem-mounted motorcycle mirrors, installation involves removing the original mirror, installing the correct adapter if required, threading the new mirror into the mounting point, positioning the mirror stem, and tightening the lock nut or adapter securely.

Do not force the mirror into the mount. If it does not thread in smoothly by hand, stop and verify the thread diameter, pitch, and direction.

Before You Start

Check the mounting point on your motorcycle and confirm:

  • Thread diameter — commonly M10 or M8 on metric motorcycles.
  • Thread pitch — the diameter alone does not guarantee compatibility.
  • Thread direction — some motorcycles use a reverse (left-hand) thread on one side.
  • Adapter requirement — some BMW, Harley-Davidson, scooter, and other applications require a specific adapter or mounting arrangement.

If any of these are uncertain, confirm the fitment before tightening the mirror.

How to Install a Standard Stem-Mounted Motorcycle Mirror

1. Remove the Original Mirror

Loosen the original mirror at its mounting point. If there is a lock nut, loosen the lock nut first before turning the mirror stem.

Pay attention to the direction required to remove the mirror. If the mirror does not loosen normally, check whether that side uses a reverse thread rather than applying more force.

2. Install the Correct Adapter, If Required

If your motorcycle requires an adapter, install the correct adapter into the motorcycle's mirror mount first. Make sure it threads in smoothly and sits correctly before installing the mirror.

Different motorcycles may require different mounting solutions, including metric threaded adapters, reverse-thread adapters, or model-specific hardware.

3. Thread the Mirror Into the Mount

Start threading the mirror or mirror adapter by hand. It should engage smoothly without excessive resistance.

If it becomes tight after only a small amount of rotation, stop and check the thread specification. Do not use a wrench to force mismatched threads together.

4. Position the Mirror Stem

Rotate and position the mirror stem so that it provides the desired viewing angle while maintaining adequate clearance from the handlebar controls, brake or clutch lever, windshield, and other nearby components.

5. Tighten the Lock Nut or Adapter

Once the stem is correctly positioned, secure the mirror using the lock nut or appropriate mounting hardware.

Tighten it sufficiently to prevent the mirror from moving during normal riding, but avoid unnecessary over-tightening that could damage the threads, adapter, or mounting perch.

6. Adjust the Mirror Head

Sit on the motorcycle in your normal riding position and adjust the mirror head until you have a clear rearward view.

Check both mirrors together rather than adjusting them independently while standing beside the motorcycle.

7. Perform a Final Safety Check

Before riding, turn the handlebar fully left and right and confirm that the mirrors do not interfere with the windshield, fuel tank, controls, or other components.

Also verify that the throttle, brake lever, clutch lever, switches, and steering operate freely.

Motorcycle Mirror Installation Video

The following KiWAV video demonstrates the basic installation process for standard motorcycle mirrors:

Common Installation Mistakes

  • Forcing the wrong thread: M8 and M10 mounts, different thread pitches, and left-hand threads are not interchangeable.
  • Ignoring reverse threads: If a mirror does not loosen or install normally, verify the thread direction before applying additional force.
  • Using the wrong adapter: The mirror may have the correct stem thread but still require an adapter for the motorcycle.
  • Tightening before positioning: Set the stem position first, then secure the lock nut or adapter.
  • Skipping the clearance check: Always check steering, controls, and surrounding components after installation.

Installing a Different Type of Motorcycle Mirror?

This guide covers standard threaded and stem-mounted motorcycle mirrors. Other mirror designs use different mounting systems and installation procedures.

For bar-end mirrors, see our Complete Guide to Installing Motorcycle Bar-End Mirrors.

For compatibility questions before installation, see the Motorcycle Mirror Fitment Guide.

If you are unsure which mounting hardware is required for your motorcycle, contact KiWAV with the year, make, model, and clear photos of the original mirror mounting point so we can help identify the appropriate setup.

FAQ

Q1: What type of mirrors are these?

A: These are aftermarket rear-view mirrors with a slim, tapered design, intended for café racer, bobber, chopper, road bikes, sport bikes, cruisers, and e-bikes.

Q2: What makes Mamba Round mirrors different from other motorcycle mirrors?

A: Mamba Round mirrors feature a lightweight carbon fiber construction that improves impact toughness and durability while allowing a thinner profile and reduced overall weight.

Q3: What materials are used in the mirror housing and stem?

A:

  • Mirror housing: Real carbon fiber with machined aluminum reinforcement
  • Mirror stem: Aluminum

The carbon surface features a UV-resistant coating.

Q4: How thin are these mirrors?

A: They are designed to be extremely slim, with the thinnest point around 4.8 mm, depending on model and adjustment angle.

Q5: Are these mirrors lighter than aluminum mirrors?

A: Yes. They are approximately 40% lighter than full aluminum mirrors, while maintaining strength and rigidity.

Q6: Are these mirrors street legal?

A: Yes. They use E-mark approved convex chrome glass, suitable for street use in regions where E-mark certification is required.

Q7: How is rear visibility with these mirrors?

A: The convex lens provides a wider field of view compared to flat glass, helping improve rearward visibility despite the slim mirror profile.

Q8: Are the mirrors adjustable?

A: Yes. The mirrors feature two adjustable joints, allowing a wide range of positioning for different riding styles and handlebar setups.

Q9: What motorcycles are these mirrors compatible with?

A: They are compatible with most motorcycles and e-bikes, depending on the mounting bolt used, including:

  • Metric motorcycles with 10 mm mirror threads
  • Most Harley-Davidson models (except XG Street series)
  • BMW R18 series
  • Scooters and smaller motorcycles
  • Selected sport bikes using fairing mounts

Q10: What mounting hardware and bolt options are included?

A: Mounting hardware depends on the selected fitment option.
Different bolt sets are included to match different motorcycle applications, and not all bolts are included for every fitment.

Available bolt options include:

  • 10 mm bolts for metric motorcycles and most Harley-Davidson models
  • 10 mm × 1.5 pitch bolts for most BMW motorcycles
  • 8 mm bolts for scooters and smaller motorcycles
  • Harley Street 500 / 750–specific bolts
  • 6 mm fairing mount bolts
  • 5 mm fairing mount bolts for sport bikes such as Ducati Panigale

Riders should select the correct fitment option and use the matching bolts based on their motorcycle's mirror thread size and mounting location.

Q11: Are these mirrors compatible with Harley-Davidson motorcycles?

A: Yes. These mirrors are compatible with most Harley-Davidson motorcycles, including models that use 10 mm or 5/16" mirror threads.

Harley XG Street models (500 / 750) are also supported, using their respective dedicated bolt options.
Riders should select the correct bolt set for their specific Harley model.

Q12: Do these mirrors come as a pair?

A: Yes. The package includes one left-hand and one right-hand mirror.

Q13: What colors and finish do these mirrors have?

A:

  • Mirror housing: Carbon fiber
  • Stem and hardware: Matte black aluminum

Q14: Are these mirrors suitable for high-vibration motorcycles?

A: The carbon fiber construction, aluminum reinforcement, and dual-joint adjustment helps provide stable positioning on a wide range of motorcycles when installed correctly.

SPEC

  • Features
    1. A fancy detail that makes your motorcycle different—combining high quality aluminum and latest technology carbon fiber composite.
    2. Not the usual carbon fiber:
      1. Unlike conventional CFRPs that uses epoxy resin, Mamba is special blend Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRTP) that uses Polycarbonate (a thermoplastic) instead.
      2. Excellent impact toughness-- 2 layers of (top and bottom) 3K plain weave carbon fiber, with a mid-layer reinforced glass fiber impregnated through-and-through with Polycarbonate.
      3. Environmental friendly, can be recycled and reused.
      4. UV resistant coating.
    3. Extra strength with reduced weight (about 40% less weight than other full aluminum made mirrors).
    4. Unbelievable thin. Gives a tidy, neat, and clean look. The thinnest point is around 4.8mm depending on models.
    5. E-mark approved with a wider clear rear-view convex chrome lens.
