This guide covers the installation of KiWAV 65N round bar-end mirrors on Harley-Davidson motorcycles with compatible hollow handlebars.
Will the 65N fit a 1-inch Harley handlebar? The hollow-bar version of the 65N is designed for 7/8-inch or 1-inch open-ended handlebars with a threadless internal diameter of approximately 13–21 mm.
The outside diameter of the handlebar alone does not determine fitment. Before installation, make sure the bar end is open, the inside is hollow and threadless, and the internal diameter is compatible with the supplied expansion mount.
How to Install 65N Bar-End Mirrors on a Harley-Davidson
Quick answer: Remove the existing bar-end cap or hardware, confirm that the handlebar end is hollow and compatible with the 65N expansion mount, insert the mounting system into the handlebar, tighten it until securely expanded, then position and adjust the mirror.
1. Check the Harley Handlebar End
Before installing the mirror, remove the existing bar-end cap or other hardware and inspect the inside of the handlebar.
For this 65N hollow-bar mounting setup, check that:
- The handlebar end is open.
- The inside of the handlebar is hollow and threadless.
- The internal diameter is approximately 13–21 mm.
- There is sufficient internal depth for the expansion mounting system.
A 1-inch outside handlebar diameter does not automatically guarantee fitment. Internal components, threaded inserts, or other obstructions can prevent an expansion mount from being installed.
2. Insert the 65N Expansion Mount
Insert the supplied 65N expansion mounting system into the open end of the handlebar.
The expansion assembly should fit into the handlebar without being forced. If it cannot be inserted correctly, stop and recheck the internal diameter and handlebar construction.
3. Secure the Bar-End Mount
Position the mirror at the handlebar end and tighten the mounting hardware gradually. As the hardware is tightened, the expansion mount secures itself inside the handlebar.
Confirm that the mount is firmly secured and does not rotate or pull out by hand.
4. Position the 65N Mirror
The 65N uses a compact round mirror head with a convex lens. Sit on the motorcycle in your normal riding position and adjust the mirror angle until you have the best usable rearward view.
Check the mirror position before finalizing the installation, especially if you prefer the mirror mounted above or below the handlebar.
5. Check Clearance Before Riding
- Confirm that the mirror and expansion mount are secure.
- Turn the handlebars fully left and right.
- Check clearance from the fuel tank, controls, levers, and other components.
- On the throttle side, make sure the mirror mounting hardware does not interfere with free throttle movement.
- Recheck the mirror angle from your normal riding position.
