Do not force the mirror into the mount. If it does not thread in smoothly by hand, stop and verify the thread diameter, pitch, and direction.

Check the mounting point on your motorcycle and confirm:
- Thread diameter — commonly M10 or M8 on metric motorcycles.
- Thread pitch — the diameter alone does not guarantee compatibility.
- Thread direction — some motorcycles use a reverse (left-hand) thread on one side.
- Adapter requirement — some BMW, Harley-Davidson, scooter, and other applications require a specific adapter or mounting arrangement.
If any of these are uncertain, confirm the fitment before tightening the mirror.
How to Install a Standard Stem-Mounted Motorcycle Mirror
1. Remove the Original Mirror
Loosen the original mirror at its mounting point. If there is a lock nut, loosen the lock nut first before turning the mirror stem.
Pay attention to the direction required to remove the mirror. If the mirror does not loosen normally, check whether that side uses a reverse thread rather than applying more force.
2. Install the Correct Adapter, If Required
If your motorcycle requires an adapter, install the correct adapter into the motorcycle's mirror mount first. Make sure it threads in smoothly and sits correctly before installing the mirror.
Different motorcycles may require different mounting solutions, including metric threaded adapters, reverse-thread adapters, or model-specific hardware.
3. Thread the Mirror Into the Mount
Start threading the mirror or mirror adapter by hand. It should engage smoothly without excessive resistance.
If it becomes tight after only a small amount of rotation, stop and check the thread specification. Do not use a wrench to force mismatched threads together.
4. Position the Mirror Stem
Rotate and position the mirror stem so that it provides the desired viewing angle while maintaining adequate clearance from the handlebar controls, brake or clutch lever, windshield, and other nearby components.
5. Tighten the Lock Nut or Adapter
Once the stem is correctly positioned, secure the mirror using the lock nut or appropriate mounting hardware.
Tighten it sufficiently to prevent the mirror from moving during normal riding, but avoid unnecessary over-tightening that could damage the threads, adapter, or mounting perch.
6. Adjust the Mirror Head
Sit on the motorcycle in your normal riding position and adjust the mirror head until you have a clear rearward view.
Check both mirrors together rather than adjusting them independently while standing beside the motorcycle.
7. Perform a Final Safety Check
Before riding, turn the handlebar fully left and right and confirm that the mirrors do not interfere with the windshield, fuel tank, controls, or other components.
Also verify that the throttle, brake lever, clutch lever, switches, and steering operate freely.
